Tied by Mike “LI Flies” Ozkaya, right here on Long Island, NY. Invented by Lefty Kreh, deceivers are a staple pattern for Northeast saltwater fly fishing. This is a classic pattern for striped bass, bluefish, and really just about any saltwater fish that swims. Really, any fish that feeds on small to medium size baitfish. The Deceiver “HD” is tied with an extra large profile, on a Gamakatsu SL12S 6/0, meant to handle very large fish.
Finished Length = ~7 inches
